Allietare Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt 2015 - Part 3

Allietare Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt 2015 - Part 3
Isn't this Allietare Mystery quilt fun!  Here is this weeks guess.  We have used all the colours now and look at all that neutral Bonnie has mixed in this time, it really adds a breathing space.  I don't think I have ever made a quilt with a piece as large as the neutral pieces we had to cut this week ( I usually work VERY small), but already I am thinking of the quilting potential that it offers.

I get quietly obsessed with getting all those 4-patches thoroughly mixed up so that none are the same.  It adds time to the process, but as they say - simple things please simple minds.  All this neutral cutting has wiped out some of my scraps already, but with so many bits I know they will get distributed throughout the final Allietare quilt.

So, everything is cut out and sewn for Part 3 and my little storage box is already full.  We are only half way through, but I can't wait to start getting the quilt together.  Thanks Bonnie, you are doing a great job!

BTW - as it is Mystery Quilt season, I thought I would put my Easy Street quilt on the bed over the  Christmas period.

Still half way to go. Joining up with the regular Monday Mystery Link Up at the Quiltville blog!

  1. I agree, I've never used such a large piece as these either...Your Easy Street is Beautiful.

  3. I'm wondering if we will cut the bigger piece one more time in a future clue. Bonnie has to keep us guessing. I like seeing the guesses, though. My Celtic Solstice in on my Bed.

  4. Yes, those neutral rectangles are a little large for Bonnie's MQ...it will be interesting to see how we use them. Lovely little four patches.

block possibilities - you might be on to something there :)

  7. I like your guesses!
As this is my first Bonnie mystery, I have no idea where she could be going with any of this...

  8. I like your guess! I was wondering (hoping) that we are done with neutrals. I didn't cut the large piece because I am afraid I may run out of neutrals. I will wait until closer to the end of the mystery to do that.

  16. My theory is there will be two kinds of blocks, set on point, exactly as there were in Easy Street. I like your color combo!

  17. Love your solution guess! That would be great. I am waiting for the reveal this time before starting. Thanks for sharing... If you want to email me use reenainchina@yahoo.com as I do not check the gmail at all.

  18. You are the first I've seen who put what pieces we have made together to make a block. I's so fun to see how close you guys get.

  19. A good guess. However, the center of the block will not work. There will be a gap!

Another matter, if you don't round off the percentage of each part, and use the total area so far instead, as a percentage of the total area of Bonnie's quilt, you come up with this:

Part 1 Area 661.5 Square Inches
Part 2 Area 1261.5 Square Inches
Part 3 Area 1836 Square Inches
Total area completed 3759 Square Inches
Area of Bonnie's quilt 7872 Square Inches
This is 47.8% (correct to one decimal place)

Trust me, I was a Secondary School Maths teacher in another life!
